HOW THEY COMPARE
Full ceramic coating: chemically bonds to painted surfaces and forms a hard, hydrophobic layer. Durability is up to 5 years depending on use, storage, and maintenance washes. It takes the most prep, because the paint should be corrected before coating.
Hybrid ceramic sealant: a spray-applied blend of SiO₂ and polymers. Durability is about 8–12 months. A good option when you need protection quickly or between full coatings.
Wax: a cosmetic boost with light protection that lasts up to about 6 months. Quick to apply during a wash.
WHICH SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?
Choose a ceramic coating if the aircraft flies often, lives outside, or operates in high-UV, high-altitude environments like the Mountain West. The upfront investment pays back in faster washes and paint that stays glossy for years.
Choose wax or a hybrid sealant if the aircraft is due for paint soon, you're preparing it for sale, or you want protection without the prep time of a full coating.
PREP MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so oxidation, haze, and swirl marks should be corrected first. That's why most full coatings start with a wash, decontamination, and paint correction.
